Poem by Sierra Carr

I was told the bravest thing you can do is let someone hurt you and still talk beautifully about them
But betrayal feels like being crushed like a soda can
sounds like silent tears
Swallowing pills like tic tacs didn’t make the pain disappear
I used to think I wasn’t meant for love
Only for white walls and hospital beds, but
To be alone
I’d have to be my own home
The bravest thing I can do now is still be loving
Even when the world hurts me
