MHAM Submission - Nahida Musabbir

This is a poem I wrote about the emotions that can be felt when struggling with mental health, and how it builds up over time and consumes you.

Indestructible

No,
No one knows
How indestructible you are
How intense you are
How striking you can be
Lightning struck
So strong
You'll shatter at your core
And all that remains are the ashes of anger
Still hot
What a pitiless pulse
And these ashes resurrected
Into the being
The monster within
Of despair
Anxiety
Sadness
Seconds that last a lifetime
The bite of a parasite
That hosts itself within you
And all of us
A tree in the soil's body
Decaying and destructed
Solid but still invisible
Contained in the forest you call your mind.
