MHAM Submission - Alicia Crespo

Poem by Alicia Crespo

A dark silhouette looms over my still body.
Details unseen, reason unknown,
But he’s just there.
Following me in my darkest hours.
I feel him now.

I glance over my shoulder with every presence I feel
And I am met with emptiness each time.
This type of loneliness goes unpunished.

He’s persistent yet purposeless.
He fills a void yet widens the fear.
Every day I wish to be rid of it,
The feeling of gloom and despair.

Yet there’s nothing there.
