Bridge by Anonymous

under the bridge flows the Seine
and my thoughts
I clearly still remember them
carrying thirteen years of pain

The night fell and the hours rang
The days go away I remain

my hands both stuck together
holding onto the wood rail
my broken heart will shiver
the boat still sails in the rain
the frozen air

The night fell and the hours rang
The days go away I remain

oh how I feel the impulse fade
life is so quick to turn dull
and numb, and stagnant
and how intrusive is violence

The night fell and the hours rang
The days go away I remain

staring blankly at the water
I'm my own danger
can't control
or cheer myself up
under the bridge flows the Seine

The night fell and the hours rang
The days go away I remain

To explain the poem a little bit, I sometimes really enjoy revisiting another’s artist work and using it in my own way to create something special to me. I studied Guillaume Apollinaire’s “Mirabeau Bridge” in class one day, I took it and rewrote it to tell my own story. I want you to know that even though things are really hard, there’s always hope, as cliché as it sounds. You’re never alone in this fight. Don’t let these thoughts take the best of you. Much love.
